The Ritz Theater FAQ's
Below are some of the more common questions we are asked about the theater. If your question isn't listed, please contact us through a message on our Facebook Page for a response.
Are Outside food and drink items allowed?
No, outside food and drink items are strictly prohibited! Persons caught inside the theater with such items will result in their removal from the theater without refund. This is considered a violation of our admissions policy and invalidates the ticket purchase. This includes candy and refillable water bottles.
Do you sell tickets online / in advance?
We do not offer any form of online or advance ticket sales at this time. Our theater is not set up to process these transactions and the costs to do so would raise our ticket price significantly.
When will you be showing this movie?
Generally, we only know the Monday before what we are playing the following Friday. This is due to the way the contracts to show the movies are handled, and is an issue beyond our control. Very rarely will we know in advance when a specific feature will be showing.
Can you show this old movie that I really love?
The rights to show a movie publicly can be very expensive, sometimes running into the thousands of dollars. The costs involved make it cost prohibitive for us to show older movies at our theater due to a lack of demand. Many older films are not even available to publicly exhibit legally due to the policies of the studios that made them. Even certain movies that would seem to be very popular have hidden costs that make them impossible for us to feature at our theater.
Do you accept credit/debit cards?
We can accept most Visa, Discover, and MasterCard credit cards with a minimum purchase of $4.00 at both the snack bar and the box office. Some MasterCard debit cards (notably those issued by Key Bank) may be unable to be used on our reader as well. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Are you hiring?
We generally only hire for the Ritz and the Motor Vu in April, just before the Motor Vu opens for the season. If you are interested in applying at that time, applications are available at the Ritz Theater in March and April by coming in in-person only. Positions are very limited, part-time only, and non-benefited.
How do private events/rentals work, how much do they cost, and how do we book one?
More information on this is located on our Rentals and Events Page.
how does the bring-back bucket promotion work?
We now offer a limited number of plastic popcorn tubs. These tubs are refillable on subsequent visits to the theater during the season they are purchased in. The proceeds from these sales help fund the annual maintenance on the projectors at the Ritz and Motor Vu that allows us to continue showing movies at the value we offer our patrons. More information on this program is available from our snack bar staff.
Buckets are only valid in the calendar year purchased, and are usable at the Ritz or Motor Vu Theaters. Each promotional period ends on 12/31 of the calendar year unless otherwise stated.

Do You Sell Gift Cards?
Due to the laws governing gift cards, we do not currently offer them at either the Ritz or Motor Vu Theaters. However, we do sell prepaid admissions that are good for 3 months from the date of purchase. If you are interested in purchasing these you can contact us through the contact us form, or come into the theater during normal operating hours.
At What age do you hire?
Due to regulations on hours that persons under 16 can work, we do not hire anyone under that age. The nature of our business requires employees to work later at night than the law allows 14 and 15 year olds to work.
Can I schedule a phot0/video shoot at your property?
We are asked about photo shoots at our properties on a semi-regular basis. Requests for time to conduct a photo shoot are handled on an individual basis. Shoots for commercial use are charged a rental fee for use of the property depending on the nature of the request and level of involvement needed from the business. Shoots of a non-commercial nature are evaluated on an individual basis.
To discuss a photo shoot request you can contact us via our email contact form or via our Facebook page.
